Susan Dollmont
Flute • Clarinet • Saxophone
Susan was born and raised just outside of Pittsburgh and began playing the saxophone at the age of eight. After a strong classical training she graduated with a BS Music Education Degree from Duquesne University. From there, she went on as a professional woodwind player within a variety of Orchestra pits including the Tides Musical Theatre production. Her work has ranged from complete horn band style ensembles, successful quartets, trios and duos all showing her skill with Classical, Jazz, R&B, Rock and Contemporary Music. Currently Susan is involved in a Blues / Jazz ensemble.
Susan has privately taught Music for over 25 years. For 5 years she was the controlling director for the Great Beginnings Band program an Institution that provided a coordinated year-long Musical Education and Performance class to 9 Pinellas County Elementary schools.complete with School concerts and a FBA style competition.
Susan has consistently expanded her techniques and knowledge by attending and working with the annual TRSQ workshops. She has studied and worked with such greats as Phil Woods, Fredrick Hemke, Nick Brignola, Marino Galluzza, James Houlik and Ernie Watts.
Susan continues to be active within the professional scene. Although her strength is in Classical and Jazz music Her talent lies within the ability and conviction in teaching and playing great music.
