June Newsletter

Dear Students and Families

I hope you are all doing great!  I’ve been hearing wonderful things from the Creative Keys teachers – that online lessons have been going very well and that many students are practicing more than ever before.  It’s great to see that you’re all making progress and enjoying making music!

As a quick update, the majority of our instructors are waiting until June or July to resume in-person lessons, while a few have been gradually returning this month.  Your teacher will definitely keep you posted on their exact return date.  Although we are excited to see you again in person, we want you to know that you are more than welcome to continue your lessons online for as long as you are comfortable.

As part of our safety plan, we continue to clean and disinfect all areas of the school with special attention to high touch areas.  Disposable masks are available at the front desk free of charge if you would like to use one.  We have been upgrading items throughout the school and studio rooms to include high quality air filters, air purifiers (with HEPA filter and UV-C light), and a touch-less soap dispenser.  Hand sanitizer dispensers are located on the wall of each studio room and a pump dispenser is also available at the front desk.

When you return for in-person lessons, please note that the lobby and waiting areas are closed temporarily.  You may walk your student in (on time) or just send them in from outside (adult students may walk in a minute or two before the lesson time).  Your teacher or an office staff member will then walk the student out at the end of the lesson.  Unfortunately at this time we cannot allow family members in the studio rooms, however you can arrange with your teacher to place a video call during the lesson so that you will still be able to observe.

We ask that each student washes or sanitizes their hands before the lesson begins.  Piano teachers will wipe down piano keys between each student with disinfecting wipes.

To help keep everyone safe and healthy, please take your lesson online rather than in-person If anyone in your family is sick or has symptoms of coronavirus (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html).  Also, if you or your family travel, please take your lessons online for 2 weeks following your return.

Thank you for taking the time to read this note!  We appreciate each and every one of you and are so thankful that you have continued your music studies during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Hayley Fair
Director

We had such a great time at our Online Spring Recitals, hosted over Zoom by Hayley Fair, our Director, over the weekend of May 15-17. Students sent in their video performances and we watched together online, with applause to celebrate each student’s success. It was so great to hear students showcase their pieces they had been practicing and it was clear to see that they all love performing! We look forward to more recital fun coming up soon!

We’re excited to host another online performance this Summer!

Our Virtual Summer Showcase will be held on the weekend of:
July 25-26 over Zoom.

Students will record a video of their performance at home and send it in to Creative Keys, where we will then compile the videos for your performance time.  On your performance date and time, we’ll get together over Zoom for a “watch party” – you can invite family and friends to join in the fun!  It’s great to hear everyone’s applause as we recognize students for a job well done!  After the performance, the recitals will be uploaded to the Creative Keys YouTube channel so you can watch again and share.

Students, we encourage you to make a goal of performing 1 or 2 pieces and dress your best for your performance.  It’s a good idea to introduce yourself and the titles of the piece(s) you’re playing, as well as thank the audience for listening at the end (verbal thank you or bow/curtsey).  After you sign up on SignUp Genius, we will send you instructions on how to submit your video as well as the Zoom meeting information (feel free to privately share this info with family and friends).

We look forward to another fun weekend of performances!

Our gift card program for referrals is still in effect, so please continue to tell friends about our private lesson program.  This applies for virtual lessons or future in-person lessons.  You’ll earn 2 gift cards – $25 to Target and $25 to Amazon – for each referral (just don’t forget to tell your friend to write your name on the enrollment form)!
