How Does Summer Work?
Creative Keys is open year-round! Lessons continue during the Summer months as normal. We encourage our current students to keep their time slot active since we tend to get an influx of new students in June. The majority of new students continue on with lessons into the Fall, so it can be difficult to find a time with your instructor when school is back in session. There are so many benefits to continuing music education throughout the Summer months:
- Music lessons provide a positive, constructive outlet that will keep students’ minds active over the Summer.
- Students who continue their music studies during the months off school are typically very prepared for academics in the Fall.
- Students who take music lessons over the summer advance more quickly on their instruments since they tend to have fewer responsibilities and distractions.
- Some students even choose to attend lessons twice per week or upgrade to hour-long lessons during the Summer!
5th Annual Composition Contest
Students are invited to create their own piece of music (8 measures or more) and submit a written manuscript and/or video performance of their composition. 1st and 2nd prizes will be awarded for each age category (5-7, 8-11, and 12+). Submissions are accepted now through August 4th. Let’s have fun creating our own music this Summer!
Summer Art Contest
Attention, students who love to draw or paint! Submit your music-themed art on 8.5 x 11” paper to the front desk in June or July and you’ll be entered to win a $25 gift to Amazon! One winner per month (June, July) will be selected for each age category (5-7, 8-10, 11-13, and 14+). We can’t wait to see this year’s creative art submissions!
Summer Music Challenge
This June and July, we invite students to participate in our Summer Music Challenge! Students will earn “CK Bucks” for completing a variety of challenges. They can then redeem them for prizes in increments of 5, 10, or 15 CK Bucks at the front desk. The Summer Music Challenge is a great way to set goals and have fun with music. Stop by the front desk to pick up your starter kit the week of May 27th (zipper wallet, 1 CK Buck, and instructions sheet)!
