Summer Music Fun at Creative Keys of Tampa Dunedin

How Does Summer Work?

Creative Keys is open year-round, with lessons continuing during the Summer months as normal. We encourage our current students to keep their time slot active since we tend to get an influx of new students in June. The majority of new students continue on with lessons into the Fall, so it can be difficult (or even impossible) to find a time with your instructor when school is back in session. There are so many benefits to continuing music education throughout the Summer months:

  • Music lessons provide a positive, constructive outlet that will keep students’ minds active over the Summer.
  • Students who continue their music studies during the months off school are typically very prepared for academics in the Fall.
  • Students who take music lessons over the summer advance more quickly on their instruments since they tend to have fewer responsibilities and distractions.
  • Some students even choose to attend lessons twice per week or upgrade to hour-long lessons during the Summer to help boost their progress!

Check out all of the fun activities we have planned for the Summer months!

    6th Annual Composition Contest

We’re super excited to host our 6th Annual Composition Contest! This Summer, Creative Keys students are encouraged to compose a piece of music and submit a manuscript and/or video. Judging will begin mid August with results late August to early September. We are excited to see and hear what our talented students create!

    Summer Art Contest

Attention, students who love to draw or paint! Submit your music-themed art on 8.5 x 11” paper to the front desk in June or July and you’ll be entered to win a $25 gift to Amazon!

One active student will be selected as a winner each month (June and July) in the following age categories: 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, and 14+. We can’t wait to see this year’s creative art submissions!

    Summer Music Challenge

The Creative Keys Summer Music Challenge returns late May! Students can earn “CK Bucks” for completing a variety of challenges and then redeem them at the front desk for prizes in increments of 5, 10, or 15 CK Bucks. The Summer Music Challenge is a great way to set goals and have fun with music!

Stop by the front desk to pick up your starter kit the week of May 19th (zipper wallet, 1 CK Buck, and instructions sheet)! Students may begin redeeming their CK Bucks as early as May 26th and can earn and redeem up until August 31st.

    Summer Enrichment Classes
This Summer, attend an Enrichment Class to replace a missed private lesson!

Students who need to miss a private lesson may attend an Enrichment Class free of charge. Each class will have a maximum of 8 students on the roster. All instruments and levels are welcome!

Enrichment Classes provide students with an exciting opportunity to get together with other students to learn and reinforce music concepts. During each 45-minute class, students will enjoy a variety of games and activities that help them improve their musicianship while having fun!

Topics may include note reading, rhythm, composition, music symbols, performance techniques, and much more.

    * Please note that if only 1 student shows up to class, the student will be given a 30-minute private lesson on the topic originally planned for the group.
