David Fortuna has been a performer and teacher for over 20 years. He is currently teaching Elementary Music at Northwest Elementary School in Hudson, Florida. David has also taught private lessons on trumpet, trombone, French horn, and tuba throughout his teaching career.
David began playing the trumpet in fifth grade and immediately fell in love with practicing and performing. By the time he entered Countryside High School in Clearwater, Florida, his passion with helping others grow a love for music started to develop. He made the decision to go to college to study to become a music teacher.
David would attend Troy State University in Troy, Alabama and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music and History. Later, he completed his Masters Degree in Music Education. While in Troy, he served as the elected Band Captain/President for two years and was trumpet section leader in several performing groups such as Symphony Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensemble. David was honored to be asked to perform “Napoli Variations for Trumpet” while accompanied by the Troy State Summer Band. While working on his Masters, David was hired as an Adjunct Professor to teach trumpet to undergraduate students. David was also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Band Fraternity.
While in college, David has performed in several church venues, rock bands, soul bands, jazz combos, and for many military ceremonies.
Since graduating college, David has focused on his teaching career. He has taught middle school band in LaGrange, GA, Panama City, FL, and Bradenton, FL. He has been teaching elementary music at his current location for the past 15 years, and still plays and performs when his schedule allows.
David is married to Laurel, and has a stepdaughter named Lindsey (who is attending the University of Florida), and also a son named Dominic, who is currently taking piano lessons from Creative Keys Music School.
